Accessing the Booming
ASEAN & Middle East Markets

ASEAN countries, including Thailand, Indonesia, Vietnam, the Philippines, Malaysia, Singapore, Cambodia, Myanmar, Laos, and Brunei, have witnessed significant urbanization, rapid economic growth, fast-rising consumption power, and ever-improving living standards. According to recent data, the ASEAN region’s GDP growth is projected to increase from 4.7% in 2024 to 4.9% in 2025, driven by increasing domestic consumption, recovering goods exports, and a tourism rebound.

Meanwhile, the emerging markets in the Middle East, geographically located just next to the fast-developing ASEAN, have been growing in global buying over recent years. The Middle East’s strategic location and economic diversification efforts have made it a significant player in global trade, further enhancing its market potential.

Together, ASEAN and the Middle East now form a huge regional market for various kinds of high-quality consumer and lifestyle products. This vibrant market is characterized by a blend of traditional craftsmanship and modern design, catering to diverse tastes and preferences. The combined economic dynamism of these regions offers unparalleled opportunities for businesses to tap into a rapidly expanding consumer base.

Increase in Inbound Passengers and Market Opportunities

With the easing of visa application processes by the Thailand government and the increase in international flights, the number of visitors to Thailand has been rising continuously. According to Thailand’s Ministry of Tourism and Sports, from January 1 to September 7, 2023, a total of 20,003,972 overseas visitors arrived in Thailand. During the summer vacation and peak travel seasons, the total number of overseas visitors amounted to 7,199,886.

This influx of international visitors highlights Thailand’s growing appeal as a travel destination and underscores the country’s strategic importance as a hub for business and trade in the ASEAN region. The increasing number of inbound passengers not only boosts the tourism sector but also creates significant opportunities for the home and gift market. As more visitors explore Thailand, the demand for high-quality consumer and lifestyle products continues to rise, making MEGA Home, Gifts & Premiums in Bangkok an ideal platform for connecting with international buyers and suppliers.

Capturing the RCEP’s Opportunities

The Regional Comprehensive Economic Partnership (RCEP) is a free trade agreement signed by 10 member states of the ASEAN and its five partners (China, Japan, South Korea, Australia and New Zealand). It is also opened to Central Asia, South Asia and other economies in the Oceania. RCEP aims to establish free trade agreement for a unified market by reducing tariffs and non-tariff barriers.

Once the agreement comes into effect, “members states will reduce tariffs to zero immediately, or committed to reduce tariffs to zero within 10 years.” As of 15 November 2020, 15 parties have signed the agreement. As a result, the RCEP has replaced EU's Free Trade Agreements as the world’s largest free-trade agreement deal.
